1. Choose a suitable storage place

The place where metal materials are stored should be clean and dry, both inside and outside the warehouse, away from factories and workshops that produce harmful gases and dust, and not mixed with acids, alkalis, salts, gases, powders and other substances, but stored in batches;

When different types of metal equipment are recommended to be placed in the same place, there must be a clear separation distance to prevent contact corrosion.

Magnesium alloys, small steels, thin plates, steel belts, precision equipment, metal products and non-ferrous metal materials should be stored in the warehouse, and can be stored in special warehouses if conditions permit.


2. Keep the warehouse dry

Ensure that the relative humidity of the warehouse is below the critical humidity. Generally, the relative humidity should be controlled at about 70%.

Manage the temperature and humidity of the warehouse, keep abreast of weather changes, avoid typhoons and rainstorms, and use ventilation methods to cool down and lower tides. Desiccant placed in the warehouse can also play a role in reducing moisture.

Keeping the warehouse dry is an important condition for preventing or reducing corrosion of the hardware commodities in the warehouse.

Proper stacking and thatch pads are also one of the links to prevent moisture and damage to hardware products. The palletizing requirements are reasonable, firm, quantitative, tidy, and space-saving. The seal isolates the metal material from the outside air and reduces the influence of moisture on rust.

3. Anti-rust by oil injection

In the humid and hot areas of the south, metal equipment stored in the open air cannot achieve the expected rust prevention purpose only by using thatch cover. It can be sprayed with oil to prevent rust at the same time. Those who are oily should not use this method.

Protective layer and packaging of protective equipment

In order to prevent metal products from rusting, they are generally treated with anti-rust before leaving the factory, such as chemical treatment to produce protective film, coating with anti-rust agent or anti-rust packaging, etc.

During handling, loading and unloading, and storage operations, it is necessary to prevent damage to the rust-proof outer layer and packaging, and not to damage, crush, or deform under pressure.

Damaged packaging should be repaired or replaced, wet-affected ones should be dried, and anti-rust oil dirty or dry should be removed and re-oiled.
